This month our guests are writers Mary Coll and Michael Farry

Michael Farry, a retired primary teacher, is a Sligo native living in County Meath. He is a founding member of Boyne Writers Group, Trim, County Meath and of LitLab, the Cavan/Meath writers group. He was editor of Boyne Berries, the poetry and prose journal published by the Boyne Writers, from its inception in 2006 until 2014. He was selected for Poetry Ireland Introductions 2011. In 2009 he was awarded third prize in the Patrick Kavanagh Poetry Competition, was shortlisted for the Bridport Poetry Competition (UK) and longlisted for the Plough Poetry Prize (UK). He won the Fermoy Poetry Competition and the Síarscéal Poetry Competition, Roscommon, in 2013. His second poetry collection the Age of Glass was published by Revival Press this year.

Mary Coll is a poet, playwright and broadcaster from Limerick. The first female editor of The Stony Thursday Book, her poetry collections include All Things Considered (Salmon 2002) and Silver ( Arlen House 2016). She has made numerous contributions to a variety of anthologies and programmes on RTE Radio One, RTE Lyric FM, and RTE Television as well as working as a critic for The Irish Independent and other national newspapers. Stage productions of her plays Excess Baggage (2007) and Anything But Love (2010) were produced at The Belltable Arts Centre Limerick. Other work includes radio plays commissioned by RTE Drama On One, lyrics for the Choral Work ‘Spirestone’ and two award winning art song cycles in association with the Limerick composer Fiona Linnane, and a new play Diamond Rocks: Sunset, commissioned by The Lime Tree Theatre, Limerick.

Everyone is invited to take part in the open-mic after the main event, poets, storytellers, musicians and writers. Even if you don’t write you are welcome to bring something along to read. The night begins at 8.00pm and admission is free. So join us on the night and make this event something special.

The Limerick Writers’ Centre is currently unfunded and depends for revenue from sales of books and donations.
