The March 2017 ‘On The Nail’ Literary Gathering

Tuesday 2nd May 2017 @ Chez le Fab, Arthur’s Quay Park, Limerick. Start 8.00pm sharp!

This months guest writers are poet and author Mary O’Donnell and poet Richard W. Halperin.

Mary O’Donnell was born in Monaghan and now living in Kildare, Mary O’Donnell is the author of 13 books of poetry and fiction – a new poetry collection, Those April Fevers, was with Arc publications later 2015. She was elected to Aosdána in 2001 in recognition of her literary talents. In addition to her creative writing, O’Donnell has also presented three series of poetry programmes on RTÉ radio and is a regular contributor to Sunday Miscellany. She worked for a number of years as a journalist, mainly as theatre critic, and her contributions to newspapers such as The Irish Times and Irish Independent, together with her many contributions to literary journals, span a broad range of topics.

Richard W. Halperin has Irish/U.S. dual nationality. His poetry has been widely published in Ireland and the U.K. The poem ‘Snow Falling, Lady Murasaki Watching’ is on permanent display in the foyer of the Hawk’s Well Theatre, Sligo. He had had three collections published by Salmon Poetry; the most recent is Quiet in a Quiet House, 2016. He has had six chapbooks published by Lapwing, Belfas; the most recent is Prisms, January 2017.

Everyone is invited to take part in the open-mic after the main event, poets, storytellers, musicians and writers. Even if you don’t write you are welcome to bring something along to read. The night begins at 8.00pm and admission is free. So join us on the night and make this event something special.

 

NOTE: Our special authors book table will again be in operation, so if you want your book, CD’s etc publicised make sure you are represented on the table. Contact Dominic Taylor at 087 2996409 to make arrangements.

The Limerick Writers’ Centre is currently unfunded and depends for revenue from sales of books and donations.
